Bio

I studied Physics and transitioned into systems engineering after joining a grad scheme in telecoms.

I’ve worked on large distributed on-prem systems since 2021 and my skills are mostly in the sysadmin/infrastructure space. They include Linux system administration, Infrastructure as code with Ansible and containerisation, more detail my LinkedIn.

At the moment I’m focusing on upskilling both my general infrastructure and system administration skills alongside cybersecurity. If you have or need these skills I’d be very interested to speak to you, please reach out!

I moved to London in 2023 and have really enjoyed my time here, in spare time I enjoy characterful pubs and playing squash or cycling.

Effective altruism

I find the central arguments of EA and what people have done with them (e.g. things mentioned on this page ) extremely inspiring.

I consider myself to be part of this community and for me this means spending some significant amount of my resources (both time and money) on having an impact.

When I started full time work in September 2021 I signed the 10% pledge, committing to donate at least 10% of my income to effective charities. So far so good!

When I moved to London in 2023 I started organising events with Effective Giving London. In the last few years we’ve had hundreds of people turn up at speaker events and socials to discuss giving money effectively.

Now, I’m thinking about how to steer my career towards impact. At the moment my best guess here is working at the intersection of infrastructure engineering and cybersecurity to help build secure systems where they’re needed most. This could be in government, at AI labs or anywhere where security is important and high impact.
